Whiteface Mountain is for everyone
Whiteface Mountain proudly holds the greatest vertical descent east of the Rockies at 3,166 feet, stretching to 3,430 feet when The Slides are open. With 96 trails, 12 lifts, and nearly 300 skiable acres, the Olympic mountain offers something for everyone: groomers, glades, two terrain parks, a halfpipe, and a beginner’s area for first-timers. Whether you’re cruising blues from the Cloudsplitter Gondola, tackling black diamonds, or taking a private lesson at the Snow Sports School, you’ll find terrain for every ability level—plus stunning Adirondack views along the way.
Whiteface is also a fantastic family mountain. The Bear Den Learning Center is a dedicated space for kids, families, and beginners, complete with a magic carpet, themed features, and its own chairlift. New in 2023, The Notch lift connects Bear Den directly to the main mountain, giving learners easy ski-over access to more runs and the lodge. When they’re ready, beginners can practice on the Mixing Bowl bunny hill or take the Bear Chair Lift to gentle trails like Deer, Fox, and Wolf. With experienced instructors, family-friendly amenities, and special programs like the Learn to Ski or Ride Passport and Kids Ski or Ride Free Passport, Whiteface makes it easy, and fun, for the whole family to hit the slopes.
Mountian views and on-mountain amenities
Your lift ticket at Whiteface Mountain opens access to three peaks in one: Whiteface Mountain, Little Whiteface, and Lookout Mountain. Lookout tops out at 4,000 feet and is designed for intermediate and expert skiers, with long winding runs like the Wilmington Trail and glades on both sides for true east-coast woods skiing. Rand’s Last Stand offers a straight, clean fall line, while The Slides, located between Lookout and Whiteface, provide backcountry-like terrain for highly experienced riders when conditions allow. Access often requires a buddy, beacon, probe, and shovel.
After chasing powder, Whiteface’s full-service amenities have you covered. Grab a bite at Base Camp Market, Legends, Al Forno Pizza, the new Black Diamond Burrito Bar, Growler’s Grill, Legacy Market, or the iconic Waffle Cabin. Many spots host seasonal events, from live concerts to NYSEF races, and the Cloudspin Bar & Grill is perfect for après-ski refreshments.
Need gear? Whiteface offers rentals, tune-ups, and repairs, plus lockers to store your belongings. Shops like Brookside Apparel and Flying Squirrel provide everything from ski apparel to souvenirs. With diverse terrain, abundant amenities, and nearby lodging and dining, Whiteface ensures a complete ski vacation both on and off the slopes.
